Como Hotels and Resorts, the Singapore-based brand of 12 upscale properties, recently opened its first hotel in the United States, the Metropolitan by Como, Miami Beach, which claims to have the city's first artisanal gin bar.

The menu at the bar, the Traymore, includes 40 gin varieties from four countries — Britain, the United States, the Netherlands and France. While recognizable names like Beefeater and Bombay Sapphire are part of the selection, the majority of the list is small-batch producers such as G'Vine Floraison from France.

Gin is also a highlight in several of the cocktails like the Tres Amingos made with Bulldog Gin from England, ginger liqueur and pear white brandy. Javier Beneyto, Metropolitan's general manager, said that he chose to highlight the spirit because it's a refreshing drink that complements Miami's warm temperatures.

Other amenities in the 74-room hotel,  in an Art Deco building on Collins Avenue, include a private beach, a rooftop spa with a hydrotherapy pool, a lap pool, two restaurants and contemporary interiors by the Italian decorator Paola Navone.
