While Windstar Cruises' new "golf fantasy" may remain just that — a fantasy — to most of us, a few travelers can play five historic courses while cruising the coasts of Scotland and Ireland on a luxury yacht.

Windstar's "Legendary Links" package, an optional add-on to its Gaelic Explorers cruise in August, gives 40 passengers the opportunity to play against backdrops like the Irish Sea and the Scottish Highlands. Courses include the Dunluce Links at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland (right) and Castletown on the Isle of Man, laid out by the legendary golfer Mackenzie Ross in the early 1920s and '30s; and in Scotland, the Struie course at the Royal Dornoch on the North Sea, Cruden Bay, where golf has been played for more than 200 years, and the Jubilee course at St. Andrews Links, the birthplace of the sport.

Golf packages start at $2,995 a person (in addition to the $3,899 for the 10-day cruise) and include greens fees, the advice of a professional golfer (onboard), shore excursions and two nights at the Fairmont St. Andrews.
